Control-Z is the universal apology. A temporal rollback that pretends the last action never occurred, even though everyone involved remembers it did.
Invoked immediately after a mistake, a realization, or a brief moment of confidence. Often pressed multiple times in succession, as if the user is attempting to rewind not just the interface, but the decision-making process that led there.
In conversation, Control-Z implies regret without explanation. It does not fix the underlying thought, only its most recent manifestation. Its power is limited, its mercy finite.
Considered essential. Overused. Trusted far more than it deserves.
