[contraction of 'Gosling EMACS']
n. The first
EMACS-in-C implementation, predating but now largely eclipsed by
GNUMACS. Originally freeware; a commercial version is now
modestly popular as 'UniPress EMACS'. The author (James Gosling)
went on to invent NeWS.
